Where: On board the USS Salem CA139 - Quincy, Massachusetts
When: Thursday August 11th through Sunday August 14th
Work Party Details
From: Al Siegel ETR2 OE Div 67-70
Founding Museum President
Workparty Coordinator
The main purpose of this workparty is to install and dedicate a display in honor of our friend and Museum Curator, Norm Swanson,
who passed away earlier this year. In addition we want to expand the Marine display to incorporate the service of more of our
Marines that earned our nation's highest awards. The family of one of those Marines was at our recent reunion in Norfolk and
it was a real honor to meet with them.
The logistics of berthing and food are still being worked out, but anyone can sleep on board the ship for no charge and the museum
will provide food and drink so those berthing on the ship can cook up their own breakfast. Because of somewhat limited funds, we
will not be able to cover all meals, but will certainly have our usual Friday night dinner - possibly a fantail cookout.
Other work to be done would be cleaning of T2, but I am not aware of any projects that will be strenuous.
One of our own, Bob Freeman, is now an assistant director of the Salem, responsible for volunteers. Bob will help me coordinate
this workparty.
Please let me know if you are interested in participating - it should be a lot of fun for everyone - friend and family are absolutely
invited - the more the merrier.
All the best to you and yours,
Al Siegel ETR2 - OE Div 67-70
